What is
Cancer Care at Work about?
The Cancer Care at Work framework is a framework designed to provide employees facing a cancer diagnosis with the support, flexibility, and accommodations needed to balance their health journey with their work.
The framework helps employers to foster an inclusive and compassionate environment, ensuring employees feel empowered and valued during one of the most challenging times in their lives.
Up to half of us will face a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime.
Research carried out in partnership with Purple House Cancer Support Centre and Core indicated that while 88% of Irish people believe that having a set framework to support those with a cancer diagnosis is important, only one in five companies have one in place.
Every individual and their diagnosis is unique. The Cancer Care at Work framework is flexible and can be easily tailored to the circumstances and the place of work, ensuring the needs of the individual are met wherever they are in their journey.
Our mission is to bring an easy to implement Cancer Care at Work framework to every single employer in Ireland.
About
Purple House
Purple House Cancer Support is a non-profit organisation based in Ireland that provides a range of support services to people affected by cancer. It was founded in 1990 by cancer survivor Veronica O’Leary and her husband Brendan as a result of their own experience of living with cancer and the lack of support services for families available at that time. Purple House was the first community-based cancer support centre in Ireland and has since become a vital resource for cancer patients and their families.
The primary goal of Purple House Cancer Support is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by cancer through various services and initiatives. They offer emotional support, practical assistance, and complementary therapies to help individuals cope with the challenges associated with cancer.
